2003 Hall Of Fame Recipients
On Saturday February 1, 2003, AYSO Region 644 inducted three very special people into our Hall of Fame. These inaugural inductees are:

Mr. Steven Ziegler - Steven was regional commissioner here at AYSO Region 644 and presided over the largest growth spurt in the region's history from 400 participants to over 1,800 participants. He spearheaded the effort to obtain the rights to use the fields at the West Broward Community Church and was the main influence in the design and layout of what is the Weston Regional Park soccer fields as they are today. Not only was Steve the RC here at Region 644 but he was also president of the Weston Soccer Club and the organizer and president of the Weston Sports Alliance.

Mr. Don Roberts - Don was a major contributor to the region in the early days of the program. He, along with Ken Sandbank, helped organize, what we know today, as AYSO Region 644. Don is a former regional referee administrator and was also the area director in the State of Florida.

Mr. Ken Sandbank - Ken, along with his wife Maria, was one of the original developers of the AYSO program here in West Broward. Ken was the second regional commissioner and developed the program into an AYSO pilot program in 1988 and then a full-fledged charter member in 1990. In the early days of AYSO, Ken was not only the RC, but also refereed, taught the coach and referee courses, lined the fields, set up the concession stand, etc. Ken passed away in 2001, but his name and legacy will forever be synonomous with AYSO Region 644.
