AYSO’s Six Philosophies

Everyone Plays®

AYSO’s goal is for kids and adults to play soccer, so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least 50 percent of every game.

Balanced Teams

Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible because, providing a stronger learning experience for teams as they play teams comprised of similar ability. It also allows for each player to experience playing with a wide variety of teammates of different skill levels.

Open Registration

If you want to play soccer, AYSO welcomes you and gives all youth and adults the opportunity to register and play.

Positive Coaching

A coach can be one of the most influential people in a player’s life, so AYSO requires they create a positive experience for every player in AYSO. Additionally, encouraging player’s effort leads to greater enjoyment, improved skills and stronger motivation in players.

Good Sportsmanship

We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our programs are designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

Player Development

All players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

Our History

Tradition… it is the cornerstone for everything we have ever done orwill do. In 1988, West Broward AYSO changed their name to AYSO Region 644 serving the communities of Weston, Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, and all of the other neighboring cities. AYSO Region 644 – Weston, Florida has had a relatively short existence, just nineteen years, yet we have grown from 300 youth players to approximately 3,750 players in fall and spring leagues during that short period of time. Children who began in our program at the time that they were just entering kindergarten are now off to college, we believe just a little better off due to the positive experiences that they had growing up AYSO.

We have two distinct soccer seasons, one in the fall which runs from early September through early December and a second season which runs from early February through mid May. But we don’t stop there… Beginning in 2006 our developmental program, AYSO Select, started as an enhancement to our regular core program. The select teams are selected by age groups (for the U7 division on up) to train, develop, and participate in AYSO State Games, AYSO National Games and select soccer tournaments throughout Florida. We also offer the VIP (Very Important Player) program for emotionally and physically challenged individuals. In addition, we offer mens and ladies soccer leagues which begin in September and run through May.
